My Story
I didn’t always live this way.
For most of my life, I thought I was just unlucky.
I didn’t feel at home in my body—or honestly, even in this world. I spent years trying to earn love, approval, safety, and belonging by being “good,” productive, helpful, responsible, and perfect. People-pleasing became survival. Perfectionism became armor.
On the outside, I looked functional.
On the inside, my nervous system was exhausted.
In my twenties, I lived on Mountain Dew, Sunkist, Frappuccinos, fast food, stress, adrenaline, and convenience. Water barely existed in my world unless it was for laundry, dishes, or a shower. Traveling for work, eating out constantly, running on caffeine, overcommitting, pushing through exhaustion—it all felt normal.
Successful, even.
But eventually, my body stopped whispering.
By my mid-30s, I was facing a pre-cancer diagnosis and a LEEP procedure. At the time, I didn’t understand the connection between chronic stress, emotional suppression, toxic environments, inflammation, nervous system overload, and physical symptoms.
No one had ever taught me that the body keeps score. No one taught me that symptoms can be communication. No one taught me that survival mode eventually has a cost.
But something inside me had started asking questions.
Then in 2021, everything changed.
I was diagnosed with uterine cancer.
That moment cracked my life wide open.
Not just physically—but emotionally, mentally, spiritually, and relationally.
For the first time, I stopped asking:How do I shut these symptoms down?
And started asking:Why is my body struggling in the first place? What has my system been carrying for years? What patterns have I normalized? What have I ignored? What happens when a person spends decades disconnected from themselves?
That was the beginning of a completely different journey.
I started learning about the nervous system, metabolism, gut health, inflammation, stress physiology, emotional health, environmental overload, and the incredible intelligence of the human body. I realized the body isn’t broken—it adapts. It compensates. It responds to the environment we place it in physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.
And then life asked even more of me.
In 2024, my baby sister Steph was diagnosed with breast cancer.
Steph wasn’t just my sister. She was my person. My ride-or-die.The safe place in the storm. The one who believed in me before I fully believed in myself.
She believed deeply in this work. She wanted healing. She wanted more time. She wanted a future.
We had plans to build together.Plans to help people together.Plans for life after survival.
On June 11, 2025, we lost her just weeks after her 40th birthday.
And honestly?Part of me broke with her.
Grief changes everything.
It strips away illusion. It forces you to reevaluate what matters. It makes you realize how many people are silently drowning while pretending they’re “fine.”
After losing Steph, I understood this work differently.
This stopped being about wellness trends or protocols or information.
This became about humanity.
About helping overwhelmed people reconnect with themselves before their body has to scream for attention.About helping people understand stress is not just emotional—it’s physiological.About helping exhausted humans stop living disconnected from their own needs, limits, emotions, and bodies.
That is where The Story of Our Lives was truly born.
Not from perfection. Not from having all the answers. Not from “fixing” myself.
But from walking through loss, burnout, fear, survival mode, grief, and awakening—and realizing most people are missing the same thing I was missing:
Connection.
Connection to their body.Connection to their nervous system.Connection to rest.Connection to purpose.Connection to community.Connection to themselves.
The Missing Piece.
Today, my work focuses on helping people clear the chaos and reconnect the pieces that modern life has pulled apart: nervous system regulation, metabolic health, gut health, emotional resilience, stress overload, energy, recovery, and sustainable human health.
Not through shame. Not through fear. Not through perfection.
Through awareness.Support.Responsibility.Education.Practical tools.And honest conversations.
I don’t believe the body is the enemy.I believe the body is intelligent.I believe symptoms often carry information. And I believe many people have been surviving for so long they’ve forgotten what it feels like to truly feel safe, connected, and alive.
Steph is woven into every part of this mission.
Every conversation.Every presentation.Every person I help.Every story shared.
Because her story matters. And so does yours.
You are not broken. You are not behind. And it is not too late to reconnect with yourself.
Your body has been speaking the whole time.
The question is:Are you ready to listen?

Who are we
The Story of Our Lives was created from one simple realization:
Most people are not broken. They are overwhelmed, disconnected, exhausted, and carrying far more stress than their body was ever designed to handle alone.
What began as one woman’s personal journey through survival mode, cancer, grief, burnout, and transformation has grown into a mission centered on helping people reconnect the missing pieces modern life has pulled apart.
Today, The Story of Our Lives exists to help people better understand the relationship between stress, nervous system overload, metabolic health, gut health, emotional resilience, recovery, and sustainable well-being.
We believe health is not just physical. It is emotional.Mental.Relational.Environmental.And deeply connected to the way we live every single day.
Our approach blends practical wellness education, functional insight, nervous system support, lifestyle foundations, and honest conversations designed to help people reconnect with themselves in a realistic and sustainable way.
This is not about perfection. It is not about shame. And it is not about chasing another quick fix.
It is about awareness.Connection.Responsibility.Support.And learning how to work with your body instead of constantly fighting against it.
At The Story of Our Lives, we believe:
Your body is intelligent
Symptoms often carry information
Chronic stress impacts far more than most people realize
Healing requires looking at the whole person
And sustainable change happens one decision at a time
Whether someone is navigating burnout, digestive issues, emotional exhaustion, nervous system overwhelm, grief, lifestyle imbalance, or simply feeling disconnected from themselves—we want them to know they are not alone.
Because sometimes the missing piece is not another supplement, another diagnosis, or another program.
Sometimes the missing piece is finally feeling seen, supported, understood, and reconnected to yourself again.
That is the heart behind this work.
Own Your Story.Rewrite Your Future.

Meet Samantha & Wade
Samantha Hostetler and Wade Johnson are the founders of The Story of Our Lives — a mission rooted in resilience, reconnection, and helping people move from survival mode into sustainable well-being.
Together, they bring a balance of lived experience, grounded support, practical insight, and honest conversation to the work they do.
Samantha, a Metabolic Wellness Practitioner, speaker, and cancer survivor, brings the vision and heart behind the company. Her journey through personal health challenges, grief, nervous system overload, burnout, and deep personal transformation led her to create a different kind of wellness conversation — one that looks beyond symptoms alone and considers the whole person.
Wade brings calm, steadiness, practical perspective, and unwavering support. His grounded presence and ability to meet people without judgment help create the safe, honest environment The Story of Our Lives is built upon.
Together, they have walked through significant personal challenges including health crises, grief, family struggles, emotional healing, faith deconstruction, and rebuilding life from the ground up. Those experiences shaped their belief that many people are carrying invisible stress, unresolved emotional burdens, exhaustion, and disconnection while trying to simply “push through” life.
That is why their work focuses on helping people reconnect the missing pieces modern life often overlooks:nervous system support, stress awareness, gut and metabolic health, emotional resilience, recovery, purpose, and human connection.
Their approach combines practical wellness education, functional insight, lifestyle support, and compassionate accountability designed to help people better understand their body, their stress patterns, and the impact daily life has on overall well-being.
This is not about perfection. It is not about fear. And it is not about pretending life is easy.
It is about learning how to reconnect with yourself, support your body, and create a more sustainable way of living — one step at a time.
Because sometimes the most powerful transformations begin the moment someone finally feels seen, supported, and understood.

Our Goals
Mission Statement
At The Story of Our Lives, our mission is to help people reconnect the missing pieces impacting their health, energy, resilience, and overall well-being.
Through functional wellness education, personalized functional lab insights, lifestyle support, nervous system awareness, and practical tools, we help individuals better understand the relationship between stress, metabolism, gut health, inflammation, emotional overload, recovery, and sustainable living.
We use functional lab testing to help uncover hidden stress patterns, healing opportunities, and areas of imbalance so each person can better understand what their body may be communicating and build a more personalized path forward.
Our approach combines education, awareness, accountability, and individualized support designed to help people move out of survival mode and toward greater clarity, resilience, and long-term well-being.
We believe lasting change begins when people feel informed, supported, empowered, and reconnected to themselves — body, mind, and spirit.
Because your story is not over. And your body is not working against you. Vision Statement
Our vision is to help create a world where health conversations become more honest, human, connected, and proactive.
We envision communities, families, and workplaces where people understand the impact chronic stress, disconnection, burnout, and lifestyle overload have on the body — and where support exists before crisis forces change.
By helping people reconnect with themselves physically, emotionally, mentally, and relationally, we hope to contribute to healthier individuals, stronger families, more resilient workplaces, and future generations better equipped to live with balance, purpose, and sustainability.
At The Story of Our Lives, we believe small shifts create powerful ripple effects — and that every person has the ability to rewrite the future of their story.
